The intricate, intricate, complex and decorative Rococo style did not receive an impressive development in plastic. Having brightly and powerfully shown himself in painting, architecture and interior, this style left sculpture the role of an additional, auxiliary kind of art, which only contributes to an even more vivid and illusory decoration of living space and park ensembles.

Many art historians generally do not consider Rococo a separate direction in the history of world art, considering it to be only the highest manifestation of Baroque aesthetics in the period of the decline of European monarchies.

Among the sculptures of the Rococo era, it is difficult to find monumental, impressive in its content and external embodiment of the work. Serving only as a decoration aid, the small and graceful works of Falcone, Lemoine, Pigalle, Claudeon and Page helped to create a light, playful atmosphere and carelessness inherent in the gallant style.

One of the most famous works of this era in plastic art was Cupid performed by Falcone. Wealthy customers wanted to see this winged god of passionate love in their gardens, gazebos and bathhouses. There were so many orders that Falcone gave them to his students and colleagues, unable to cope with the work on their own. It is only known that the master personally created about a dozen such works, not much different from one another.

The sculptural portraits of Lemoine constitute the main glory of gallant sculpture. The author created many elegant marble busts, which were portraits of customers - financiers, bankers, wealthy merchants and industrialists.

Contemporaries of the author sharply criticized the master for the excessive complementarity of his work, for the superficial interpretation of images and the rejection of psychological nuances. Europe lived on memories of the magnificence of the Renaissance and new, elegant, but empty works, annoyed connoisseurs and philosophers of the 18th century.

The largest and most authoritative museums in the world are rightfully proud of the work of Augustin Pagu in their collections. The master created surprisingly deep works, while maintaining the external lightness and playfulness of the capricious Rococo style. His portraits of Pascal, sculptures of Mercury, female busts are an example of how the sculptor, keeping pace with the times, managed to remain a real artist, deep and difficult. Masterfully transforming the canons of Renaissance and Antiquity, Pazhu fills them with external lightness and even ostentatious frivolity, preserving the depth of images and endowing his work with ideological and artistic meaning.

As a student of the court sculptor, Claudion always understood that the main thing in his work was to please the customer. Nevertheless, the master created many unusually elegant and poetic works that adorned the royal palaces of Europe.

Among his works, the compositions of Satiress, Poetry and music, numerous nymphs and fauns deserve special attention. The sculptor became famous for his elegant statuettes of marble and terracotta, bronze and even biscuits! Despite the fact that his works do not differ in deep meaning or psychological depth, they were created with extraordinary thoroughness and undoubted skill.
